is a text file, written in the working directory by the satellite, which contains messages, including warnings or notices of failure, recording events which transpired during execution.

The messages are also written to the screen, but often they disappear again too swiftly to be read. Therefore satlog.txt should be inspected whenever mal-functions are suspected.
