The Simuserve operation

As an outcome of the EC-funded MICA project, a new commercial company, Simuserve Ltd, has been set up so as to supply CFD-based services more widely and inexpensively than has hitherto been possible. Simuserve, will concentrate on the middle part of simulation-service spectrum, and especially on items 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

It will also enlarge these services by enabling the computations to be performed with other software than PHOENICS and at other computer centres than that at CHAM.

Simuserve will confine its attention to special-sector services, in the first instance those appropriate to:

• heating, ventilating and pollutant movement in buildings;
• flow around buildings and other structures (ie the "virtual wind tunnel" );
• electronics cooling;
• heat exchangers.

The number of sectors is expected to increase in the course of time, so as to include, for example:-

• chemical-vapour-deposition (CVD) processes,
• furnaces of various kinds,
• oil spills in rivers and coastal waters, etc,
• gas dispersion in and near off-shore oil platforms
