As technology advances, increasingly large computing power is being packed into increasingly small devices, bringing with it an increased amount of heat produced.  Cooling of electronic systems has thus become a key concern, both in terms of performance optimization and to reduce the amount of energy necessary to maintain these conditions.

CFD is now extensively used to predict and enhance the operations of these systems, with PHOENICS being particularly well suited to dealing with heat transfer in confined spaces where traditional turbulence models offer less accuracy than PHOENICS’ LVEL model.
